How much does React development cost in 2026?
With Lytvynov Production, React development cost in 2026 typically starts at $10,000 for a focused React web app and reaches $35,000 to $70,000 for a production-ready product with admin, payments and integrations. A React or React Native MVP costs $10,000 to $50,000, and most land at $10,000 to $20,000. A typical US or UK agency quotes roughly 2.5 to 4 times more for the same scope. We give a fixed quote after a short scoping call.
React itself is free and open source, so React app development cost is almost entirely people: design, front-end and back-end engineering, QA and delivery management. The framework matters less than what the product must do. A React dashboard over one database and a React app that streams AI answers, syncs with three external systems and ships to iOS and Android are both "React projects", and their budgets differ several times over. The rest of this guide breaks the cost down so you can place your own project.
What does a React project cost by scope?
Scope, meaning user roles, platforms and integrations, is the biggest driver of React development cost. The table shows our typical ranges by project type (design, front end, back end, QA and deployment included) next to what a typical US or UK agency quotes for the same scope in 2026.
| Project type | Typical scope | Typical timeline | With Lytvynov Production | Typical US/UK agency |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| React web app | Portal, dashboard or simple web app, one or two roles, admin basics | 6-10 weeks | $10,000 - $15,000 | $25,000 - $60,000 |
| React front end on your existing API | New or rebuilt React or Next.js interface over a back end you already have | 6-12 weeks | from $10,000 | from $25,000 |
| React or React Native MVP | First version for real users, web or mobile | 8-14 weeks | $10,000 - $50,000 (most $10,000 - $20,000) | $25,000 - $200,000 |
| SaaS product with a React front end | Accounts, teams, roles, subscriptions, dashboard | 8-16 weeks for a first release | from $10,000 | from $25,000 |
| Full online business | React web app, React Native apps, admin, payments and integrations, production-ready | 12-20 weeks | $35,000 - $70,000 | $90,000 - $280,000 |
| ERP or CRM with a React front end | Many modules and roles for a mid-size company | 4-8 months | $40,000 - $90,000 | $100,000 - $360,000 |
| Complex AI product | React and React Native apps over fine-tuning, RAG memory or custom models | 4-9 months | $60,000 - $150,000 | $150,000 - $600,000 |
| Large multi-platform product | Several web apps, mobile apps, APIs for partners | 6 months and more | $100,000 and up | $250,000 and up |
Our minimum project size is $10,000. Smaller pieces of work, such as a single new screen or an extra integration, are priced as part of a bigger project. For MVP-specific ranges and the cost of AI features, see our MVP development cost guide.
What drives React app development cost up or down?
React app development cost is driven by how many distinct things the product must do reliably, not by the number of screens. A screen that combines live data from three systems costs more than ten static pages. The drivers that move React budgets most often:
- Platforms. A responsive React web app is the cheapest option. Adding React Native for iOS and Android reuses types and logic but still adds mobile design, device testing and store releases.
- Next.js and SEO. Server rendering, caching and structured content for public pages add setup work, and pay back only when search traffic or first-load speed matters.
- User roles and permissions. Each role adds views, rules and test cases. Two roles is a very different project from five.
- Integrations. Payments, calendars, CRMs, delivery or banking APIs each add build and testing time.
- Real-time features. Live boards, chat, notifications and maps need WebSockets, Mercure or server-sent events and more careful state handling in React.
- AI features. Streaming answers, editable drafts, source citations and agent approval screens add front-end work on top of the model integration itself.
- Design depth. Using a proven component library is cheaper than a fully custom design system with animations.
- Existing code. Taking over a React codebase starts with an audit; old React versions, class components and no tests make every change slower until they are addressed.
How much does a React Native app cost compared with web?
A React Native app for iOS and Android usually costs more than a React web app with the same features, but less than two separate native apps. With us, a mobile MVP in React Native falls inside our MVP range of $10,000 to $50,000; web plus iOS and Android together typically sits in the upper half of that range or moves into the $35,000 to $70,000 band once admin, payments and integrations are production-ready.
The extra cost of mobile comes from mobile-specific design, testing on real devices, push notifications, offline behavior, and the app store review process. Build React Native from day one only when users need something a website cannot do well: push notifications, camera, location in the background, offline use or a place in the app stores. Otherwise start with a responsive React web app and add mobile once usage proves it.
Our AI Grief Companion project is an example of the combined setup: a React and Vite web client and React Native apps for iOS and Android over one Node and Express API, so account, subscription and chat logic is written once for all three platforms.
How much does it cost to hire React developers?
The cost to hire React developers depends on region, seniority and whether you hire people or buy an outcome. Typical blended agency rates we see in the market in 2026:
| Option | Typical cost (2026 market range) | What you manage |
|---|---|---|
| US agency | $100 - $200+ per hour | Scope and priorities |
| UK and Western European agency | $80 - $160 per hour | Scope and priorities |
| Central European agency (Poland and neighbors) | $45 - $90 per hour | Scope and priorities |
| Ukrainian agency | $30 - $50 per hour | Scope and priorities |
| Freelance React developer | Widely varies by region and seniority | Scope, code review, QA, continuity |
| In-house senior React developer (US) | Often well over $150,000 per year fully loaded | Everything, plus hiring and retention |
The hourly rate is only half of the equation. A React developer for hire at a low rate who needs twice the hours, or whose code has to be rewritten, is not cheaper. When comparing options, count what you pay for code review, QA, back-end work and project management, which a freelancer does not include and an agency usually does. We compare regions and hidden costs in more detail in our guide to offshore software development cost.
Lytvynov Production does not bill React work by the hour for projects. We agree scope in a short scoping call and give a fixed quote split into milestones; for ongoing capacity we work as a dedicated team.
What does a React app cost to run and maintain?
Running a React app after launch usually costs from under $100 to a few hundred dollars per month in infrastructure for an early product, plus usage-based fees for AI and third-party APIs. The larger ongoing cost is maintenance: keeping React, React Native and their libraries current, fixing what users find and making small improvements.
| Item | Typical cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Web hosting and API servers | $50 - $500 per month early on | A static or single-page React app is cheap to serve; Next.js server rendering and the back end cost more |
| Database, storage, email, monitoring | Free tiers at first, then tens of dollars each | Grows with users and data |
| App store accounts (React Native) | Apple Developer Program $99 per year, Google Play $25 one-time | Required to publish iOS and Android apps |
| AI API usage | Per token, from fractions of a cent per request | Set per-user limits and cache repeated results |
| Maintenance | Often 10 - 20 percent of the build cost per year | Dependency and security updates, version upgrades, small fixes |
React Native apps need a little more upkeep than web apps: Apple and Google change their SDK and policy requirements regularly, and an app that is not updated can eventually be blocked from new releases. Plan at least one React Native upgrade cycle per year.
How much do AI features add to a React app?
AI features add cost on two sides: the model integration on the back end and the interface on the front end. With Lytvynov Production, a single well-scoped AI feature inside a bigger project, such as text generation on top of the OpenAI or Claude API with a React screen to review and edit the result, typically adds $2,000 to $5,000 of build work. Retrieval over your own documents with an evaluation set usually adds $5,000 to $15,000. An AI feature ordered on its own, added to an existing product, starts from $10,000.
On the React side, the work is in streaming responses, showing sources, handling slow or failed answers, and letting users correct the output. A complex AI product built around fine-tuning and RAG memory is a different category and costs $60,000 to $150,000 with us. For the full picture, see our guide to AI app development cost.
How can you reduce React development cost?
The most reliable way to reduce React development cost is to cut scope before the build starts and to reuse proven building blocks, not to cut testing or code review. Changes that rarely hurt a first release:
- Start with a responsive web app and add React Native once mobile usage justifies it.
- Use plain React for logged-in areas and Next.js only for pages that must rank.
- Use a component library (for example one built on Radix or MUI) instead of designing every control from scratch.
- Buy commodity parts: hosted authentication, Stripe for payments, managed databases and email services.
- Keep the admin simple: a generated admin on the back end (EasyAdmin in Symfony, for example) covers early operations.
- Generate API types from the back end so front-end and back-end bugs are caught at build time.
The last point matters more than it looks, and it is easiest when one team owns both sides. The custom ERP for a US aircraft service company is an example of that setup: we built the Symfony back end, the React front end and real-time updates with Mercure together over six months, covering orders, service scheduling, shifts, warehouse inventory and compliance in one application.
How do you compare React development quotes?
Compare React quotes against the same written feature list and check what each one includes, not the totals. Two quotes of $15,000 and $45,000 often describe two different products. Questions that make React quotes comparable:
- Does the quote include the back end and API, or only the React front end?
- Is it React, Next.js, React Native, or a combination, and why?
- Are UX/UI design, QA and deployment included?
- Are app store submission and the first React Native release included?
- How are change requests priced, and who owns the code and cloud accounts?
- Who exactly will write the code, and at what seniority?
How we price React development at Lytvynov Production
Lytvynov Production builds React and Next.js front ends and React Native mobile apps on PHP/Symfony or Node back ends, for SaaS products, internal platforms and AI-heavy apps. Senior engineers run delivery, and we use AI coding agents internally for routine work, which is part of how we keep timelines short. Read more about the service on our React development page.
Because two React projects with the same name rarely share the same scope, we give a fixed quote after a short scoping call, split into milestones. Tell us about your product on our contact page, or describe the scope in our project estimate form.
